“The Promised Land” is undoubtedly the most famous novel about Łódź. In it, Władysław Reymont showed a dynamically developing, multicultural metropolis. Before starting work, he lived in Łódź, where he observed its inhabitants and factory life. On the pages of the novel appear the owners of the greatest fortunes - the admired and hated “kings of cotton”. Apparently, many fabricators recognized themselves in the heroes and tried to hinder the publication of the book. Could Israel Poznański be one of the pioneers? Do the descriptions of the palace interiors resemble the decor of his residence? We will answer these and other questions during the Literature Night, visiting the Museum of the City of Łódź.
