Classics and pastry cakes. We invite you to a fascinating dive into the life and writing of Sigrid Undset.

About the event

Sigrid Undset is considered one of the Nordic region's greatest writers and in 1928 received the Nobel Prize in Literature, especially distinguished by the main work Kristin Lavransdatter and the great historical novel series about Olav Audunssøn.

With works such as these as well as the early breakthrough Jenny, she depicted the focal points of human life with a singular historical precision and psychological depth.

With a strong and implacable voice, she made her mark in the 1930s as one of the sharpest opponents of Nazism and fascism, forcing her into a long exile during World War II. Her personal life and writing were furthermore marked by her conversion to Catholicism, which added a marked ethical and existential seriousness to her works.

Klaus Rothstein is our guide as we delve into Sigrid Undset's life and writing. Don't miss the opportunity to learn more about one of the great giants of Norwegian literature.

About Klaus Rothstein:
Klaus Rothstein is a literary critic at Weekendavisen, author of essay collections at the intersection of literature, politics and society, and an experienced communicator. He works extensively with the history of literature — including through events at the Royal Library — and has a long background as an organiser and host of literary radio programmes and podcasts.

The ticket costs 75 DKK and in addition to the literary gold grains there will be coffee and pastry cake.

NB. Tickets are non-refundable unless the conditions of the event change.
