We are livestreaming from Aarhus University when physicist Klaus Mølmer talks about quantum computers

About the event

Get an introduction to the world of quantum physicsHear about the new “quantum revolution” that develops technologies based on the most paradoxical quantum phenomena. Learn about how quantum computers work and what they can be used for.

The microscopic world of atoms and molecules is described by quantum physics. The quantum world described by quantum physics is very different from the phenomena of our daily lives: for example, atomic particles appear to be in several places at once, and measurements on them always give random results.

Quantum physics revolutionized physics at the beginning of the 20th century and shook many physicists in their worldview, but its predictions have since been tested with great precision in all areas of the world of physics and chemistry.

In the lecture you will get an introduction to quantum physics and to a number of existing technologies, as well as to perspectives for revolutionary future technologies that work precisely because of the quantum physical behavior of atomic particles.

Both in Denmark and internationally, since the 1990s, large sums of money have been invested in the race to develop and exploit quantum computers that use atomic quantum states to calculate many numbers at the same time. In the lecture you will learn how far we have come in the construction of quantum computers and what they will be used for when they become fully functional.

Science lectures live streamed on Big Screen With the lecture series Public Lectures in Natural Sciences from Aarhus University, you can get closer to the latest discoveries and discoveries in science. Read more about the entire lecture series here

Experience a series of lectures where you can get closer to the latest discoveries and discoveries in the natural sciences. It is scientists who lecture, the level is high and you will be challenged, but you can benefit from all lectures regardless of your professional prerequisites. Admission to the lectures is free.

The lectures are livestreamed from the Søauditorierne in Universitetsparken, Aarhus University to cinemas, libraries, folk universities, cultural houses, associations, assembly houses, colleges, schools, eateries, etc. in many cities in Denmark and abroad.

A lecture typically lasts two hours including a mid-term break of 20 minutes and a session at the end of which the lecturer answers selected questions submitted by the audience during the lecture via SMS.
