Excerpts from two of Prokofiev’s operas, inspired by Italian comic operas: swift melodies tell a quirky, dynamic story, despite the composer’s grimmer reality in Stalin’s Soviet Union.
A curated sneak peek into Prokofiev’s theatrical tales of averted arranged marriage, romantic trickery, alcoholic revelry and fateful comedy, this Half Six Fix is a guaranteed mid-week pick-me-up.
Gianandrea Noseda, Principal Guest Conductor of the LSO, is a master in Italian and Russian operas, and so it is only fitting that he take listeners through this Russo-Italian musical marriage.
Produced by the London Symphony Orchestra.
