Flight over the cuckoo's nest

There are rebels. And there's McMurphy.

Year 1963, Oregon. Randle McMurphy (Jack Nicholson) is sent to a mental hospital: a mischievous, nonconformist, and charismatic thinker who pretends to be mentally ill to avoid prison. It soon becomes clear that the institution under the supervision of the icy sister Ratched (Louise Fletcher) may be even more oppressive. Along with a group of frightened patients, McMurphy makes a quiet revolution in the hospital.

The adaptation of Ken Kesey's famous novel is a hot cry of dissent, a gripping study of the characters and a brilliant story of rebellion that we need like air. Winner of five Oscars — for best film, direction, screenplay and for two actors in the lead roles — “Flight over the Cuckoo's Nest” is one of the masterpieces of the American 1970s: a decade in which social anger ignited the creative imaginations of America's best directors. Thanks to the stunning success of “Flight...” Miloš Forman, a newcomer from Eastern Europe, hit the Hollywood top. He remained on it for the rest of his career.
