Deer Hunter

The Deer Hunter by Michael Cimino, USA, UK, 1978

Fiction, Drama, War

Michael Cimino's “The Deer Hunter” is one of the most important titles in the history of cinema, winner of five Oscars, full of momentum and at the same time surprisingly intimate story of loyalty and friendship put to the test, the limits of courage and the love that cannot save everything.

In a small mining town in Pennsylvania, three inseparable friends — Michael, Nick and Steven — work in a steel mill, meet at a bar in the evenings, and go hunting together, enjoying the simple life. Their reality changes dramatically when they are drafted into the military and sent — just after Steven's boisterous wedding — to the Vietnam War.
