About the event
Lubiewo is a spectacle of the power of imagination, full of heroin and opera divas trapped in the bodies of aging, poor men. Jędrzej Piaskowski (director, concept) and Hubert Sulima (adaptation, dramaturgy, concept) realized a multi-threaded story about loneliness and the need for love, as well as about rebellion and anarchy. The artists arrange “aunty” grandparents, and in many scenes they refer to places known to Wrocław residents and their connections with LGBTQ+ culture.
Michał Witkowski's novel in this theatrical staging rises to the rank of an antique tragedy with elements of camp and black humor. The heroines of the play created an alternative universe for themselves, in which inflection, fantasy and fun became for them the only way to freedom.
