LUNAMË is an original project by saxophonist and composer Maciej Kądeli, in which jazz improvisation meets electronics, indie-funk and folk music inspirations. The sound of the band is built around expressive groove, rhythmic repetitions, deep bass and spatial harmonies. Improvisation remains an important element of this music, but it functions in an environment of contemporary, electronic sounds and a strong pulse.
The ensemble consists of musicians associated with the Polish jazz and alternative scene: Maciej Kądziela, Natalia Kordiak, Kasia Schmidt-Przeź, Stanisław Szmigiero and Marcin Sojka. LUNAMË moves between jazz, electronics and club music, while maintaining space for spontaneous interaction and improvisation.
During the 26th JAZZ Od Nowa Festival, the band will be joined by Dennis Adu — a Ghanaian-born trumpeter, composer and bandleader who has been involved in the Ukrainian jazz scene for years. In his career, he has collaborated with Gregory Porter, Curtis Fuller, Steve Slagle, Javon Jackson, Larry Willis and Seamus Blake. His music combines contemporary jazz with great improvisational freedom and a powerful, distinctive sound of the trumpet.
On the Toruń stage LUNAMË feat. Dennis Adu will perform on October 14, 2026 during the first evening of the 26th JAZZ Od Nowa Festival.
Composition: Dennis Adu (Ghana) — trumpet Maciej Kądziela — soprano, alto and baritone saxophone Natalia Kordiak — voice of Kasia Schmidt-Przeź— bass guitar, bass synthesizer Stanisław Szmigiero — keyboards Marcin Sojka — drums
