How to start your adventure with cycling trips? Michał from Luzik Arbuzik Team Sulejówek will talk about route planning, accommodation, logistics, weekend trips, touring Poland, challenge #Bałtyk24h and passion for indoor cycling.
It all started a bit by accident. On one of the winter weekends, during the walrus, the Luzik Arbuzik team began to wonder what they would do when the winter was over. Someone came up with an idea: or maybe on bicycles along the Baltic? Thus was born the first major departure — from Świnoujście to Hel. It was supposed to be an adventure for a few days, and it became the beginning of a much larger project.
The following years brought more routes and next sections, until finally Luzik Arbuzik Team Sulejówek closed the full loop and cycled all over Poland. In the so-called meantime, there were also completely different challenges, such as #Bałtyk24h — about 350 kilometers from Warsaw to the sea in one day, as well as shorter weekend getaways and multi-day trips, during which as important as kilometers are the places, people and stories that remain after returning.
The meeting will be a story about these adventures, but above all a practical guide for anyone who would like to set off on their own. How to find an idea for a route? How many kilometers to plan for a day? How to combine driving with accommodation, transport and return home? What to take, and what after the first trip turns out to be completely unnecessary? How to prepare the bike, plan food and stops, deal with the weather, breakdowns, fatigue and the difference in pace in the group?
It will also be about organizing a trip for several people — because a good trip is not just a line drawn on the map. It's compromises, logistics, sometimes changing plans at the last minute and being able to arrange the route in such a way that after a few days everyone still wants to talk to each other.
An important part of the meeting will be weekend trips. Because to live a cycling adventure, you don't have to take two weeks of vacation right away or travel hundreds of kilometers. Sometimes two days are enough, panniers, an overnight stay a few tens of kilometers from home and a route that leads along roads that we have never had a reason to go before. It is such trips that are often the best start to the further cycling adventure.
The whole thing will be completed by the second passion of the driver - indoor cycling. Regular training on a stationary bike, working with music, rhythm and group are not only a way to keep fit all year round, but also a great preparation for longer trips. These are two seemingly different worlds that have one thing in common — the bike and the people with whom you can share energy, effort and the joy of riding.
This is not going to be a story about racing and records. Rather, it is about how a simple idea thrown out during the winter walrus can form a team, which a few years later has behind it a detour across Poland, a one-day trip to the Baltic Sea and a lot of stories that you would not be able to live while sitting at home.
We encourage you to watch a video report from one of the cycling trips:
