Latin Grammy-nominated Brazilian accordionist, singer and songwriter Lívia Mattos takes ALICE with her power trio, where accordion, tuba and drums meet in an exuberant musical format. Rooted in Brazilian rhythms, she explores the many sonorous possibilities of the accordion when she plays music from her rich repertoire on ALICE.

Lívia Mattos is a prominent figure on the Brazilian music scene. With a magnetic presence on stage and a distinctive approach to her instrument, she moves freely between forró, samba and other Brazilian traditions, which she unites with modern and experimental expressions. In the hands of Lívia Mattos, the accordion becomes both rhythmic driving force and melodic voice.

When Lívia Mattos guests ALICE, it is in trio format where her accordion meets tuba and drums — an unusual instrumentation that creates a rich and playful sound. The repertoire draws, among others, from her latest album “Verve” (2025) as well as the previous releases “Vinha da Ida” (2017) and “Apneia” (2022). In addition, Mattos draws on her background in the circus arts, which infuses her concerts with a strong theatrical and bodily presence and an alluring stage show. With international attention from, among others, WOMEX and Montreux Festival, and just nominated for a Latin Grammy, Lívia Mattos is now coming to Copenhagen and we are honored to present her at ALICE in November.
