Mr. Faktor. The Birth of Beauty

Musical Mr. Factor. The Birth of Beauty directed by Agata Biziuk tells about the life of Maks Faktorowicz, the founder of the legendary cosmetic brand and creator of the term “make-up”. This is the story of a man who, with his skill and determination, created a cosmetic empire and collaborated with the biggest stars of the Golden Age of Hollywood.

Maksymilian was born into a Jewish family in Zduńska Wola. He started working as a child. He became an assistant in the drugstore. Later he ended up with the most famous wig maker in Łódź. Thanks to the acquired skills, he was able to develop his career first in Berlin, later in Moscow, where he not only created the first cosmetics, but was also a makeup artist at the Tsar's Opera House and a private make-up artist and cosmetologist of the tsarist family. Rising anti-Semitic sentiments and court intrigues forced him to emigrate to the United States. A clerical mistake created a pseudonym that the whole world has come to know.

In the US, his career has gained real momentum. He became not only the owner of the store, but also the creator of the cosmetic brand. His experiments transformed the beauty industry, and the invention of foundation in cream opened the way for collaboration with film producers. We can say that he created stars, because thanks to his author's treatments and products, such actresses and actors as Rita Hayworth, Rudolf Valentino or Jean Harlow gained recognition. In the list of his clients you can also find Pola Negri, Charlie Chaplin, Ginger Rogers, Frank Sinatra or John Wayne.

For his merits, M.Faktor received a special award from the American Film Academy.

These and other secrets of his life are discovered in the musical by Agata Biziuk. Its action takes place in the bustle of a film studio, where dreams of beauty and art become reality. Mr. Faktor. The Birth of Beauty is a story about the power of self-creation and the fulfillment of dreams.

Stanisław Pawlak's music is inspired by contemporary sounds ranging from swing to latino. The lyrics of Anna Domalewska's songs build a story about the life and achievements of Max Factor, showing him not only as a cosmetic innovator, but also the man he was for his loved ones. The choreography was created by Krystyna Lama Szydłowska, known to our viewers. Marika Wojciechowska is responsible for the scenography inspired by the “dream factory”. A spectacle full of passion, crazy imagination and, of course, glamor is created.
