Machina eX Toolkit Release

What happens when game design, digital technologies and interactive dramaturgies meet theatre education and performing game lessons? The machina eX toolkit now offers methods and materials for developing and promoting theatre games on an extensive website. For many years, the Berlin collective has been combining game mechanics, coding and interactive spaces with the means of theatre. On toolkit.machinaex.de, this practice is now being made available to teachers, theatre teachers and all other interested parties for the first time. The publication of the website on this day at HAU will be celebrated with a double event.

17:00 — Workshop “The machina eX toolkit in practice”: At the release, interested parties can get to know the toolkit in practice. Using simple technical means, they develop small game prototypes and test them together. The workshop is free of charge, no previous experience is required. Some people work with their own smartphones. Max. 15 places. Register by 1.11.2026 at tickets@hebbel-am-ufer.de.

19:00 — Panel discussion “Game. theatre. pedagogy. Interactive formats in schools and workshops”: On the occasion of the release, three experts from practice ask how tools and methods from game theatre can be usefully used in theatre education, school and youth work. The guests are experts Lukas Müller (doctoral student in post-digital theatre education, HBK Braunschweig), and Carolin Gerlach will be moderated by Carolin Gerlach.
