Tonight marks the launch of Maddie’s debut album, Part One, marking a significant milestone in her artistic journey. The album was recorded by Grammy-nominated producer James McMillan and produced by acclaimed British jazz vocalist and Maddie’s mentor, Claire Martin OBE. Part One is a celebration of the music that has shaped Maddie’s artistic journey so far, including high-energy arrangements of standards, original compositions by band member and composer, Gabriel Taylor, and touches of 70s soul.

London-based vocalist Maddie Martin is emerging as a distinctive and compelling voice on the UK jazz scene. Raised in a musical household, she grew up immersed in a rich variety of genres, that continues to shape her individual sound. With a distinctive ‘old soul’ tone and a natural gift for storytelling, Maddie captivates audiences through her expressive phrasing, rich timbre and commanding stage presence.

At the heart of her artistry lies a deep love of lyricism, with wordplay and storytelling playing a central role in her musical expression. Drawing inspiration from an array of vocalists, including Nancy Wilson, Carmen McRae, Ella Fitzgerald, Barbra Streisand and Cécile McLorin Salvant, Maddie combines a deep appreciation for the jazz tradition with her own distinctive interpretative style.

Since graduating from the Royal Academy of Music in 2025, Maddie has been performing with her band, a close-knit group of long-standing friends and collaborators whom she met during her studies. She has since played with her band at some of the UK’s leading jazz venues and festivals.

Maddie is delighted to celebrate the release of her debut record, fittingly named, Part One. The record marks a significant milestone in her artistic journey, reflecting the music that has shaped her so far. The project began taking shape in May 2025 and was recorded by Grammy-nominated producer James McMillan, with production by Maddie’s mentor, acclaimed British jazz vocalist Claire Martin OBE.

Rooted in the jazz tradition while exploring connections to other genres, Part One brings together a carefully curated collection of music, featuring arrangements of swinging jazz standards, touches of 70s soul and original compositions by the bands trumpet player, arranger and composer, Gabriel Taylor. Tonight, join Maddie to celebrate the release of Part One. Expect to hear selections from the album alongside other familiar favourites.
