MAE plays Danish-language pop-rock with big melodies and choruses. The music moves somewhere between eee gee and Peter Sommer, from upbeat pop songs to slow-building rock tracks. Behind MAE lies four years of evolution from Ricki Mae Melchior's solo project in the bedroom to a five-man big band. Along the way, the reunion and collaboration with acclaimed producer Mads Björn became crucial to lifting the project and giving shape to the musical ambitions.
That work has accumulated on the debut album 'Favorites of the Moon', which was released in September 2026. The release is celebrated this evening at BETA.
The album is produced by Mads Björn and features eight songs written by Ricki Mae Melchior and Anders Vagnkilde Stokkebæk, including the singles 'I thought we run' and 'If we get law'.
Live, MAE unfolds the songs with an extremely well-appointed band.
