The magical world of Silesian Opera DANCE

“The Magical World of the Silesian Opera”

We invite children from 4 to 12 years old for a unique series of educational and artistic meetings. It is a project created for the youngest viewers who want to explore the world of dance, music and stage imagination. In an accessible, fun-filled way, children learn the ins and outs of dance. In the unusual atmosphere of the historic building of the Silesian Opera, the participants will embark on a fascinating journey through the world of dance. They will be accompanied by artists of the Silesian Opera Ballet Ensemble, who will show how movement can tell stories, express emotions and create unusual stage images. The Ballet Ensemble and the Silesian Opera Orchestra will perform under the baton of Piotr Mazurek.

During the meetings, children will learn the most famous styles of dance, presented on theatrical and musical stages. The youngest spectators will have the opportunity to see waltz, polka, czardash, highlander dances, but also classical duets and examples of contemporary ballet choreographies. They will learn how classical dance differs from contemporary dance, what the daily training of dancers looks like and what role music, costumes, scenography and light play in the creation of the performance.

Each meeting will be a combination of art show, education and fun together. The youngest will learn the basic concepts related to dance, discover the behind the scenes of the artists' work and will be convinced that dance can be an extremely interesting form of storytelling.

“The Magical World of the Silesian Opera” shows that dance is not an art reserved exclusively for adults. This is an adventure full of emotions, colors and unusual characters that develops the imagination, sensitivity and creativity of children. Thanks to this, we are creating a new generation of spectators and building a positive image of the Silesian Opera as an open and family-friendly place.

The concerts will be hosted by Paulina Wojdyga — kindergarten teacher, cultural educator and internet creator, who passionately promotes education through art. For four artistic seasons (from 2021) she co-created family concerts “Młodzi Melomani” at the Opole Philharmonic — events of great interest. Since 2024 she has been conducting a new series of family educational concerts “Akademia Młodego Melomana” at the Philharmonic in Szczecin, and in 2025 she conducted concerts “The Magic World of Silesian Opera” introducing young viewers to the world of opera and classical music. She is the author of the popular Instagram account Simple Stories, where she inspires families with young children to actively participate in culture and explore the world of music and art together.
