Johannes Brahms is one of Yuja Wang's favorite composers: “I love Brahms. Each work has something so human, so warm and noble — and that is exactly what the world needs right now.” Together with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, she interprets his two piano concertos: the passionate, darkly dramatic First, in which the young Brahms still struggled for his artistic path, and the Second, composed 22 years later, whose wide-ranging melody is characterized by sovereign peace and serenity. As different as they are, both works are characterized by their symphonic power and extraordinary emotional depth.
