Decompression Session presents UK bass legend Mala at the Pump House on January 22, 2027, celebrating the new year and bringing together the CPH bass scene with one of the genre's great pioneers

Born and raised in South Norwood, London, Mala has been a pioneering figure on the British music scene since the turn of the millennium. As a producer, he helped shape dubstep with the genre's most raw and fundamental elements, even before music had made its name.

Along with DMZ, Mala helped create some of the most influential club events in the history of early bass music, releasing coveted 12” vinyl records that have since become cult classics. His approach to music was based on dubstep's deep bass, heavy grooves and open musical universe and helped define the sound that would later extend far beyond the London underground.

Today, Mala is behind the leading record label Deep Medi Musik, where he has helped develop and continue British bass music for more than two decades. On the label, among others, he has released and worked with artists such as Skream, Swindle, Silkie, Commodo, Calibre, Goth-Trad, Truth, Kahn, Egoless, Bukez Finezt and Sir Spyro.

Still a significant figure on the international bass scene, Mala continues to rally people around the music and provide space for new generations of artists. On January 22, he will come to Pumpehuset with his distinctive mix of deep frequencies, dubstep and UK bass.
