We invite you to a travel meeting with Andrzej Garski about Malta as part of the Senior with Passion festival.
Malta is worth visiting at any time of the year, especially in spring and autumn, when the temperature is over 20°C. Malta is an ideal destination, the country is small and safe, everywhere is close and most attractions are reached by city buses. Despite its small area, the island hides amazing landscapes and monuments older than the Egyptian pyramids. There are beautiful high cliffs, few but charming beaches and interesting architectural remains, such as the megalithic temples of Mnajdra or Hagar Qim. Malta is also famous for its historic cities: Valletta, Mdina and the Tri-Cities (Birgu, Senglea, Cospicua) .Valletta is the smallest capital in Europe, with an area of only 0.8 km and about 6,000 inhabitants. Since 1980, it has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Co-Cathedral of St. John the Baptist is the biggest attraction of Valetta. In general, there are two types of reaction of visitors: either loud delight or silence, which is the result of the shock that most visitors experience. It is the only country in Europe where there is not a single river. There are also no forests on the whole archipelago, only small thickets. It is said that there are more than days a year on the island of churches and chapels! On average, there is 1 church per 1 km2. The famous Order of Malta was formed in connection with the Crusades. At a later time, the brotherhood evolved into a knightly order, called the Joannites. After the fall of Jerusalem, they moved to Acre, then to Cyprus, Rhodes, and finally to Malta, with which they are now most associated.
