A story of longing, lack, and desperate attempts to find safety.
This is probably the most personal play in the work of Paweł Demirski, who after a five-year break returns to the theater and together with Remigiusz Brzyk creates a play in which the 90s meet the present and Hamlet functions in a world dominated by patriarchy.
A man in his 40s, raised by women, wants a symbolic adoption and wants to choose a new father himself. A personal sense of emptiness, of loss after a lost parent, is confronted with Hamlet's relationship with his deceased father and Claudius. In the context of the growing frustration and radicalization of young men and the crisis of male identity, the story of fatherhood, an attempt to understand and redefine it seems essential today.
The script uses fragments of William Shakespeare's “Hamlet” translated by Maciej Słomczyński.

“Family in the Theater” is an event for families who want to explore the theater together. We invite adults to the performance, and children to theater workshops.
The event was created with parents and carers in mind who want to go to the Old Theatre but are having a hard time finding childcare.
While adults watch the performance, children take part in theater and art workshops.
Classes are conducted by experienced educators and artists. We provide care and a safe, inspiring space to play and act.
We invite children aged 5-9 years to participate in the workshop.
