Manfred Mann's Earth Band will return to Denmark when they take Amager Bio on 12 November, a place that has become the band's permanent home ground in Copenhagen, and a gathering point for their Danish audience.
Manfred Mann's career spans more than six decades. Born in Johannesburg in 1940 but active on the British music scene since 1962, in the 60s he became one of the period's most significant hitmakers with his first band, Manfred Mann, second only to the Beatles in number of hits in his home country.
In 1971, he formed Manfred Mann's Earth Band, drawing on progressive rock, jazzed elements and a British tradition that could be heard in names such as Cream and Traffic. The band quickly established their name as some of rock's most creative interpreters, and over the years have created new classics out of songs by Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan, among others. The version of Springsteen's “Blinded by the Light” stands today as one of the band's most iconic moments.
With hits like “Do Wah Diddy Diddy”, “Sha La La”, “The Mighty Quinn” and a host of album releases over five decades, Manfred Mann's Earth Band has earned the status of one of the most influential progressive rock bands, and their ability to evolve their sound continues. In more recent times, the band has flirted with a more soul-rock-inspired direction that has found its way to new and dedicated fans alike.
When Manfred Mann's Earth Band takes the stage again in Amager Bio, it will be with their entire timeless musical universe and a live show that must be considered a sure highlight for Danish progrock enthusiasts.
Every time Mann's Earth Band visits Amager Bio, they play to a packed room, so it's important to be quick if Danish fans are going to experience the popular band live next year.
