Venue: DT Bühne - Die Zukunft? That is often no more than planning the day after tomorrow afternoon. In an endlessly accelerated world, looking ahead seems as unrealistic as it is urgently possible at the same time. A somewhat outdated means of planning, mastering, and shaping the future is the manifesto — a political, aesthetic, critical, constructive or destructive text about a possible design of the world that should be different from the existing one. What do the manifestos of the past tell us about our present — and what all-encompassing visions are there today for tomorrow?
Tom Kühnel and Jürgen Kuttner are a specialist duo in two senses, both for manifestos and for the theatrical form of revue: In the Deutsches Theater, they edited the “SCUM Manifesto” by Valerie Solanas with Feminista, Baby and Hasta la Westler, they developed baby evenings about East-West German remembrance, or took a journey into the heart of capitalism.
Now, equipped with texts from Karl Marx to the Unabomber John Kaczynski, they once again focus on the whole of society: What ideas are big enough to shape an entire world, even the future afterwards, and: Is that even possible, the design for such a complicated whole from just one pen?
