Marcel Baliński Orchestra

Marcel Baliński did not compose this time for the existing band. He first imagined the sound, and then created an orchestra capable of extracting it.

This is how the Marcel Baliński Orchestra was founded. The band consists of ten musicians. Its sound is determined by three percussion sets, tuba, double bass and baritone saxophone, building its low registers and piano, vibraphone, trumpet and alto saxophone.

Marcel Baliński's music draws on repetitive minimalism, contemporary jazz, the tradition of Polish Jazz and film music. Recurring motifs develop gradually, and successive layers of instruments change their meaning and guide the listener through the successive stages of the musical story.

The project was created on the occasion of the 95th anniversary of Radio Łódź as a reference to the traditions of radio orchestras, which for decades have contributed to the musical history of Polish radio stations. However, Marcel Baliński Orchestra does not refer to the past in a nostalgic way. He takes this idea anew and develops it in the contemporary compositional language, showing that a truly living tradition gives birth to new music.

Balinese is one of the most versatile jazz musicians of the young generation. He is not only a pianist and composer, but also an animator, therapist, producer, leader and educator. His “Co-Voices” sang Fryderyk for album of the year and played on the most important stages in the country. After an intense year of promoting the album and touring, he was awarded a nomination for Paszportów Polityka 2025. In 2026, two albums of his authorship will appear: Sąglasy “II” and Marcel Baliński Orchestra.
