Fifty years after Promises of the Storm first established Khalife as a distinctive musical voice, he revisits the album that started it all. Born out of war, exile and the poetry of Mahmoud Darwish, the 1976 record became a defining work in his career — one that would span five decades and establish him as an internationally celebrated musician and cultural figure.
Now, Khalife revisits four of the album’s original songs in powerful new arrangements. Stripped back to voice and oud, these interpretations carry the weight of five decades, speaking once again to exile, love, loss, resistance and the enduring hope for change.
