Lecture at the Bydgoszcz Academy of Art.
Everyday life in the Polish People's Republic had its unique specificity. The difficulties of living in the socialist system were felt by both adults and children, however, many people remember growing up in the PRL with nostalgia. What was childhood like in the time of the Polish People's Republic? What toys did the little ones play with at home, what was played in the yard and what was used at school?
We invite both people who remember those times and those who know the Polish People's Republic only from stories.
Maria Wieczorek — Doctor of Social Sciences, graduate of Pedagogy and Cultural Studies. Author of scientific and popular science articles on the history of toys and the book “Toys. Journey to the world of childhood in the PRL” (Wrocław 2025). She not only writes about toys, but also collects them, as a result of which she founded the Museum of Childhood in Kórnik.
