Band music using marimbs and balafons is a tradition in some regions of Africa and Central America. Families, friends and acquaintances spend time together at the instruments, creating multidimensional rhythmic compositions.
Players are divided into sections and perform simple rhythms that add up to a spectacular musical whole. Miki Wielecki prepared diatonic marimbas for the workshops — those whose bars correspond only to the white keys of the piano. Each of the participants will have a relatively simple part to perform, which, however, is important for the full sound of the song. Knowledge of the notes and technique of the game is not required. At the end of each workshop, the participants will join in a collective performance of the piece.
At each workshop we will create a team of marimbists exploring different musical genres together, and each meeting will be crowned by a joint performance of a popular song with the participation of an invited guest-professional.
