Ash (Bruce Campbell in his iconic role) goes with his girlfriend for a romantic weekend to an abandoned cabin in the depths of the forest. On the spot they find a tape recorder with a recording of fragments of the Book of the Dead (“Necronomicon”). Playing the tape unleashes demonic forces hidden in the forest. A bloody slaughter begins, which scares as much as it is funny.
“Dead Evil 2" is not at all a continuation of the first part, but a remake of it. It was the “two” that defined the character of the classic series, in which horror mixes with slapstick comedy. Sam Raimi's film is crazy fun with demons, hectoliters of blood, an possessed hand and a chainsaw.
PS. Sorry, but it's hard to describe in a few words something so absolutely crazy!!

Reviews about the film:
Without “Dead Evil 2,” Tim Burton would probably never have launched “Beetle Juice,” Peter Jackson would not have done his “Brain Necrosis”, and the world would be poorer with a mass of horrors and strange creatures.
After Hours. Robert Ziebinski
Crazy and insanely funny.

Total Horror 10/10.

A spooky comedy dripping with blood that serves up such a ridiculous dose of macabre that one does not know whether to laugh or scream.
Dave Kehr, Chicago Tribune
“Dead Evil 2” is a comedy disguised as a blood-dripping horror festival. At first glance, it looks like a typical horror movie... But you just have to look more closely to see that this is quite a sophisticated satire.
Roger Ebert
Raimi does not disappoint. I'm still not sure if he's a genius or a madman (or maybe both).
Boston Phoenix
“Dead Evil 2” is anarchy in its purest form. Raimi himself took the skeleton of a classic horror, put it in the frame of the cartoon and poured hectoliters of blood.
Maciej Kulbat, Filmawka.pl
Sam Raimi managed in “Dead Evil” to combine gruesome, bloody and sometimes also distasteful horror with wit and humor of the highest standard, referring, among others, to classic slapstick comedies
Marcin Kamiński, Filmweb
“Dead Evil 2” is a real departure, so not everyone will find the courage to experience it to the fullest.
Kevin Thomas, Los Angeles Times
It has created more than a species, it has created a unique climate that has become a peculiar phenomenon in the history of the species, and when it occurs somewhere (and it occurs frequently), it can only be called one way. The atmosphere of “Dead Evil”.

Interesting facts:
The sounds of evil roaming the forest were created from the combination of Sam Raimi's voice and archival recordings with the voice of Orson Welles. So, technically, this is the last film in which you can hear the creator of “Citizen Kane” and “The Trial”.
Bruce Campbell performed most of the stunt scenes. When Ash is kidnapped by a demonic force and thrown over trees, the actor is attached to a metal cross connected to a mechanism that rotates him around its axis. The structure was placed on a crane mounted on a truck, which slowly drove through the forest. The shot was shot at a reduced frame rate, so that after playback, the movement seemed much faster. Shooting for the scene lasted all day.
The famous “Groovy! voiced by Ash inspired the creators of the cult video game “Duke Nukem 3D”.
Due to the combination of extreme brutality with black humor, the film remained banned in Finland for many years. In Germany, Sweden and Australia, it could only go into distribution after being significantly shortened by censors.

They took his girlfriend. They took his hand. But they gave him a chainsaw. Groovy!
