Ash (Bruce Campbell in his iconic role) goes with his girlfriend for a romantic weekend to an abandoned cabin in the depths of the forest. On the spot, they find a tape recorder with a recording of fragments of the Book of the Dead. Playing the tape unleashes demonic forces hidden in the forest. A bloody slaughter begins, which scares as much as it is funny.
