Original title: “Mutter Courage und ihre Kinder”
A poignant chronicle of the family's determination and struggle for survival on the warpath.
“Mother Courage and Her Children” by Bertolt Brecht, directed by Romuald Wiczy-Pojski, is a story about how, in a harsh, illusory world, an attempt to monetize hell and blind opportunism end in bankruptcy of the soul. War becomes for Mother a merciless machine that forces her to pay the highest price. Instead of a sentimental historical fairy tale, a manifesto exposing the mechanisms of oppressive power and soulless capital.
Paul Dessau's classic Rwandan score collides here with the raw, electronic beat generated live.
This is not a spectacle designed to squeeze tears out of the eyes over the fate of the victims.
It is a radical mechanism designed to force the viewer into a rational rebellion against a system in which man is reduced to the role of a commodity, and every attempt to survive is paid with blood.
In a world where peace is only a pause to replenish ammunition, can the remnants of humanity be saved?
Adapted from Paul Dessau's music.
