Snow mothers

MOTHER originally matci, dpn. matrices, the accusative matrix (before the 14th century abbreviated from the mother) and the collateral form of the denominator — matrix; in the 16th century the mother form prevailed.

In the 21st century, the mother does not always win. For days, months and years, mothers' unequal struggle continues: with other mothers, teachers, doctors, Internet users; with the family — overprotective, disinterested, meddling in everything; with healthy or debilitating ambition; with their own expectations about motherhood and their often disappointing realization.

And yet suddenly, as if at the touch of a magic wand... Do you see this familiar shape? This burst of energy, this radiance, this superhuman strength that enters them every day? Yes, it's them! SUPERMOTHERS! Queens of everyday logistics and empress of multitasking, defenders of the home hearth and full of devotion to the goddess, superhuman beings who live for someone and still with someone in mind, and who themselves do not expect anything in return... except love.

The play “Snow Mothers”, created by women not only for women, combines stories from the lives of modern mothers and their children with the timeless “Snow Queen” by Hans Christian Andersen. It takes us into a world of motherhood fulfilled, full of love and understanding, but also complicated, ambiguous and traumatic. Into the world of real motherhood.

The performance was qualified for the 32nd National Competition for the Exhibition of Polish Contemporary Art. The play was selected for a tour as part of the Teatr Polska program. Teatr Polska is a program of the Zbigniew Raszewski Theatre Institute. Co-financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.

Teatr Polska is a program organized since 2009 by the Zbigniew Raszewski Theatre Institute.
