There are books that you read. And there are books that you experience. Max Goldt's new work “Aber?” belongs to the second category — a literary comeback after more than a decade that feels like a reunion with an old friend: charming, sharp-tongued, a bit cranky — and, as always, brilliant.
“But he has a really nice font. This signature is a real little work of art.” “It must be. His texts are also really little works of art! “” But how he holds the pen! So crooked! “” But he has a nice writing case! Even made of genuine leather.”” The pen is also very nice! The man is just a real professional! “” My mother once had a beautiful pen like that, but she went to Thailand and never found the pen again. Probably stolen! The hotel staff is paid so poorly! ”
Max Goldt, born in 1958, grew up in Göttingen, a musician in his early years, in particular as a member of the band Foyers des Arts, has been writing for more than 35 years. His astute columns used to appear regularly in the satirical magazine Titanic and repeatedly bundled in book form. By the usual standards, his lyrics are all short and almost all funny, humorous or satirical.
“Max Goldt is the epitome of humanity.” (Durs Grünbein)
