Medium Build lets the light into VEGA with its irresistible songs

Under the artist name Medium Build, Nick Carpenter writes beautiful, heartfelt songs that soar effortlessly in the tension between intimate lo-fi, modern indie rock and grand ballads with a bit of country tendencies in the ascendant.

After a massive tour with the 2024 hit album Country and then an abysmal personal crisis, the songwriter is up to date with his most extroverted and life-affirming album to date, King of Having Fun.

The album marks a new chapter for Medium Build. Where his previous releases were most often marked by isolation, dark periods and undiagnosed bipolar disorder, the new songs on King of Having Fun are created live in the studio alongside his close friends and regular collaborators. The result is an exuberant and mature work in which light is allowed to shine into an intimate and honest textual universe.

The lyrics still bear the hallmarks of Nick Carpenter's razor-sharp, self-ironic and unflinchingly honest look at life, but are now balanced by a deep gratitude and genuine joy of life, audibly expressed in irresistible power pop moments and touching acoustic declarations of love.

Medium Build's concerts are known for being extremely personal and intimate, and they often resemble a wondrous blend of musical testimony and standup comedy, where he creates a close connection with his audience. On March 17, you can experience the healing powers of music in Lille VEGA.
