About the event

A unique series of discussion film meetings is back with a new curator. This time, Katarzyna Borowiecka, a journalist from Trójki radio, will guide us through the meanders of her film memories. In autumn and winter evenings we will meet at Światowid Cinema with films that instilled in her love for cinema and shaped her cinematic taste.

The cinemas of my childhood were Radom: Odeon and Bałtyk. In the Odeon building, where I saw (too early), among other things, Antonioni's “Occupation: Reporter”, there was then a furniture salon. Kino Bałtyk (from “Pan Kleks Academy” to “Total Eclipse”) in times of transformation acquired a more global name: Atlantic.

As you can see, I was too far away to Światowida, but the atmosphere of studio cinemas run by teams full of passion, cinemas with tradition, diverse, ambitious repertoire, which one wants to talk about has a powerful power of attraction.

My program for our meetings are films that, which shaped my very eclectic taste already in college - opened up new faces, languages and experiences.

“Idol” (“Velvet Goldmine”): not only that the most important names of the young generation of British actors (Bale, McGregor), but also the spirit of Bowie and Bolan hovers above everything in clothes designed by the brilliant Sandy Powell. Glam rock was very photogenic.

“Billy Elliot”: I saw this movie three times in a row, day after day. The power of dreams, the bending of stereotypes of masculinity, great acting.

“All about my mother”: the first Almodóvar in my life! After him, I absorbed everything that was before. Love forever.

“South Park Town”: humor without restraint, freedom and absolute uncompromising. And the song “Blame Canada” was nominated for an Oscar.
