Shot on the occasion of an excellent exhibition at the National Gallery in London, the film presents a retold, little-known biography of Michelangelo Buonarroti, who, along with Leonardo da Vinci, is considered one of the greatest artists of the Renaissance — and perhaps of all time. From this perspective, Michelangelo appears as a modern artist, a total genius who manifested himself with equal mastery in the fields of painting (drawings and frescoes), sculpture and architecture. His masterpieces are among the most important World Heritage sites: the universally adored statue of David in Florence, the frescoes on the vault and altar wall in the Sistine Chapel in Rome, and the so-called Madonna Manchester, or Mary of Nazareth, now in the National Gallery.
About the event
Phil Grabsky's film will surely go to the hearts of those whose imagination is influenced by the gigantic work of Michelangelo and his passionate nature and the turbulent history of his life and work.
