Michał Ciesielski is a pianist, composer and arranger whose music transcends the boundaries of genres and continents.

A graduate of the Academy of Music in Gdańsk, a long-time lecturer of this university, and in 2018-2022 also a teacher of the Beijing Contemporary Music Academy, today lives in Brussels, remaining an active participant in the European and Asian jazz scene.

Known as the leader of the esteemed Tri-City trio Confusion Project, he has also been developing his own solo path for years. His piano work, recorded on the albums Between Black & White (2013), Share Location (2019) and Racing Thoughts (2023), combines jazz with classical music, film and elements of folklore.

It is music full of space, emotion and narrative — subtle but at the same time unpredictable.

A special moment of his solo journey was the premiere concert of the album Share Location in Gdańsk in 2019, during which Michał Ciesielski performed as a support for the world-famous jazz pianist Hiroma Uehara.

This event highlighted the unique character of his author's speech and the power of music, which can speak both in an intimate, solo form and on the biggest stages.

Ciesielski has toured in many countries of Europe, Asia and North America, performing on stages such as Blue Note Beijing, Blue Note Shanghai, Jazz Jantar, Jazz on the Oder,

Taihu Jazz Festival or Blues Alley in Washington He collaborated with artists from Poland, Europe and China, and as a member of Daniel Nosewicz's band he participated in the recording of the album The Shining, awarded with the Fryderyk Award in the Jazz Debut of the Year category.
