Move to 1940s New York — a neon-lit city where the night belonged to swinging jazz. “Midnight in New York” is a concert that combines timeless standards, cinematic melodies and the elegance of the old American stage. Natalia Świerczyńska and Staszek Plewniak together with a band of instrumentalists will create an evening full of emotions, freedom and jazz energy.
The show takes listeners through Broadway, the clubs of Harlem and the streets of a city that never sleeps. They will include “New York, New York”, “Moon River”, “Smile”, “I'm Gonna Live Till I Die”, “When You Wish Upon a Star” and “City of Stars”. Each of these tracks opens a different musical story — from the full swing of hits to the moody themes familiar from the cinema.
Natalia Świerczyńska and Staszek Plewniak form a duo that combines vocal elegance, lightness of interpretation and natural stage freedom. Inspirations from the works of Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong and Judy Garland meet here with the contemporary sensibilities of the performers. The extensive instrumental composition allows to preserve the character of the swing sound and to give well-known concert melodies momentum.
