Mina Okabe debuted in Copenhagen with evocative and sun-drenched pop songs that quickly found their way to an audience far outside Denmark. First with Walk Away and then with Every Second, which really opened its doors to an international audience, not least in Japan and South Korea.

Today, Mina Okabe has rounded up more than 500 million streams worldwide. She has been selected as both a Spotify Radar Artist and Apple Music One To Watch, has played festivals such as Roskilde Festival, Seoul Jazz Festival, SXSW, Summer Sonic and Eurosonic, and was recently honored as New Artist of the Year at the Japan Gold Disc Awards.

It's an unusual journey for a Danish-Japanese songwriter who has spent large parts of his life moving between London, New York, Manila, Copenhagen and Tokyo. And perhaps that's precisely why the songs hit so widely. They are rarely about big arm movements. Rather, about the small shifts in feelings: infatuation, doubt, distance, family, friendships and the feeling of belonging in several places at once.

Now Mina Okabe returns to DR Koncerthuset and plays her biggest concert in Denmark ever.

“I have played concerts in countries where I did not know the language, but where the audience nevertheless sang along to songs I wrote at home in Copenhagen. It's been pretty wild to experience. At the same time, Denmark is still the starting point for me. This is where I started playing my songs live, and here I first felt that they could have a life of their own. That's why it feels so special to come home and play this concert. DR Koncerthuset is an iconic venue and I feel very honoured to play there in my own name for the first time,” says Mina Okabe.
