Miriam Kressin (Kressyn) — born in 1910 in Bialystok, star of Jewish theatres and radio personality of New York, left Orla in Podlasie at the age of thirteen, leaving with her parents to Boston. Although she intended to study law, after receiving a scholarship to the New England Conservatory of Music, she became a singer and dancer of Yiddish theater in New York and beyond. She has performed in North and South America, but also in Europe. She was also a translator of Yiddish song lyrics, an expert and popularizer of the history of the Yiddish scene, and a lecturer at Queens College. She played in films, visiting Poland in 1937 on the occasion of filming for the film by Jan Nowina-Przybylski and Józef Green Der Purymszpiler (The Purim Clown). Kressin died in 1996 and was laid to rest in Mount Hebron Cemetery in Queens, New York, in a section dedicated to prominent Yiddish actors and composers.

About the event
The workshop assumes a reorganization of the content of the film Purim Clown. Participants will take stop-frame prints from the century-old film using a much older cyanotyping technique. The prints made will become a kind of storyboard, and the order of their arrangement will allow you to weave alternative visual stories to the original scenario.
lecture: dr Joanna Auron-Górska
