About the event

Seventeen-year-old Fatima (awarded for this role by Nadia Melliti) is the youngest of three daughters of a French-Algerian family living in the suburbs of Paris. The girl is a good student, she is engaged in sports, she has loving parents. On the surface, her life is an idyll.

Her reality, however, is a constant balancing act between loyalty to a loving but fairly conservative family, her Muslim faith and her innate attraction to women.

Fatima fears that the latter for her loved ones it would be unacceptable. By registering on a dating site, the heroine begins to explore her sexuality, learn about her own needs, reflect on her identity, especially when she enters into a relationship with nurse Ji-Na (Ji-min Park). The relationship brings both joy and pain to Fatima, allowing her to better understand herself.

Directed by popular French actress Hafsia Herzi, the film is a subtle but moving portrait of a young girl who enters adult life and shapes her identity.

For the excellent performance of the main character, debutant Nadia Melliti received the award for the best female role at the Cannes Film Festival and the Caesar and the Lumière Award for the most promising actress.
