November is already the full moon of autumn. This is a time when the nature around us undergoes another transformation. The holidays that fall on this time further emphasize its unique character. For this reason, we open the meetings of the series Dobre Kino z Kot this month with a screening of the Younger Sister, a subtle portrait of a young woman in search of her own identity.
This is the story of seventeen-year-old Fatima, who is the daughter of a French-Algerian family living in the suburbs of Paris. The girl is a good student, she is engaged in sports, she has loving parents. On the surface, her life is an idyll. In fact, it balances on the edge of loyalty to the family and the Muslim faith, and its inborn attraction to women. By registering on a dating site, the girl begins to explore her sexuality, learn about her own needs.
The role of Fatima is played by Nadia Melliti, a revelation of French cinema, awarded numerous awards for her creation. Let's mention, for example, CAESAR for the most promising actress, or the award for the best female role at the Cannes Film Festival.
Behind the camera, the extremely popular French actress Hafsia Herzi (The Secret of the Grain, The Rapture, or Madame Claude), who sensitively leads her cast and skillfully portrays the heroine, while avoiding falling into schemes.
We invite you to the screening, as always, on Friday at 18:00 in the KOK cinema hall (entrance C).
Admission to the event is free.
