Fashion Film Club: Back to the Future

The magic of cinema that does not age!

The Fashion Film Club invites you to a unique journey through time — and literally. During the October meeting on the big screen of the Nostromo Hall we will see one of the hits of all time, which is “Back to the Future”!

Special guests of the event will be representatives of BTTF Polska (Back to the Future Polska), known as members of the official community of the Polish fan club trilogy. Together with them we are preparing a lot of surprises for you!

It's 1985, but not for long. All because Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) is about to be launched into the past, to 1955, by the platoon-powered DeLorean “time machine” created by a somewhat eccentric genius, Dr. Emmet Brown (Christopher Lloyd). Things get complicated in the past, because in order to get back to the future, Marty must make sure that his now-teenage parents definitely meet and fall in love with each other. If he fails, there will be a devastating chain reaction that will upset the current order and cause Marty's future to evaporate and he himself will be trapped in the past forever. Marty's last hope is to change the course of history before the deadline for returning to the future runs out.

Fashion talk before the show will be given by Anna Gołkowska. In Back to the Future, we look not only at Marty and Doc's iconic looks, but more broadly, at how cinema and fashion have shaped our ideas about time for decades. Futuristic visions of the fashion of the 60s, retroimages that over time became their own stylish clichés, and clothes that went from the screen to pop culture.

So we will look not only at what the heroes wear, but also at how subsequent eras have dressed their ideas about time.

The screening will also be preceded by a screening of a short film from the Silesian Film Archive. After the screening, we invite you to a discussion behind the scenes of the cinema.
