On selected Thursdays, we invite Glyptoteket's annual card holders to special events where the museum's experts share their deep knowledge and passion for the world of art.
On this occasion, the Glyptoteket's annual card holders are invited to an exclusive tour where architectural historian Jannie Rosenberg Bendsen and Glyptoteket director Gertrud Hvidberg-Hansen tell about the building and its place in the history of the museum.
Henning Larsen is considered one of Denmark's most significant architects and has often been called the master of light for his special ability to work with daylight, space and movement. In 1996, when he added a new building to the then 100-year-old museum, he created an architectural edifice with a very special character: an extension built for the museum's valuable collection of French paintings inside an existing courtyard, hidden from the city and which can only be experienced from the inside as an integral part of the Glyptotek.
Join us for a tour with Jannie Rosenberg Bendsen and Gertrud Hvidberg-Hansen as they focus on the most significant expansion in the history of the Glyptotek. Together they tell the story of Henning Larsen's architectural grip, from the distinctive staircase and large marble surfaces, light, materials and space and the building's interaction with the Glyptoteket's older architecture created by Vilhelm Dahlerup and Hack Kampmann (1897 and 1906).
The event is an exclusive offer to annual pass holders.
