Anna Augustynowicz, performing for the first time on the National Stage, in her interpretation of the canonical work will focus on the question of desire, which in various ways devours heroines and heroes. Unfulfilled ambitions, unquenchable desires, unhealthy competition, impure thoughts — all this we find today in the story of the most famous of Polish families.
We seem to know this story perfectly well, but have we ever looked under its lining? The range of different attitudes that the Dulskis adopt towards the world makes them sometimes clumsy, in places naive, but above all “simply” human. Is that why Zapolska's text amuses us so much? Or are we trying to cover up our own weaknesses with laughter?
We kindly inform you that intense music is used in the performance and cigarette smoke appears. Types of lighting used in the performance: strobe lights, bright, flashing, drizzling, smoldering; sudden changes in light are also used.
