Experiences of being a mother rarely coincide with what culture and language convey about it. This ideal, selflessly caring, infinitely patient and happy mother — she doesn't exist, of course. Instead, motherhood becomes a predetermined breaking point in society: When you continue to need mothers as unconditionally carers, but cannot spare them as workers. When the benefit of being a mother remains invisible, when it not only costs the last shirt, but also the pension. But at the latest when a new generation of women decides not to become mothers. “#Motherfuckinghood" is a collage about experiences of being a mother. An evening about work and care, feminism and sons, about motherhood and art.
About the event
Ensemble member Claude De Demo initiated the project and proposed it to director Jorinde Dröse. Dröse has staged at the Thalia Theater, Maxim Gorki Theater, Schauspiel Frankfurt and Staatstheater Hannover, among others. She has also worked as a mother since 2009.
Please note: One scene addresses violence during childbirth on a linguistic and visual level. Due to the content and volume, this production is not suitable for toddlers and children.
