Bartosz Jakubczak — organist, chamber musician, pedagogue, postdoctoral professor. In 2001 he graduated with honors from the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw in the organ class of Prof. Andrzej Chorosiński, and in 2003 — postgraduate studies (under the Georg Solti scholarship) with the highest distinction at the Royal Academy of Music in London in the class of Prof. David Titterington. He is the recipient of many awards given by the university, including the Peter le Huray, the Whalley Organ Scholarship Award and the special award given by the outstanding English organist Peter Hurford.
He participated in master classes led by: Marie-Claire Alain, Ulrik Spang-Hanssen, Kei Koito, Susan Landale, Jon Laukvik, Ludger Lohmann, Harald Vogl and Wolfgang Zerer. He also attended The McGill Summer Organ Academy in Montreal.
In 2002 he was awarded the Prix de la Presse at the Bach Grand Prix de Lausanne Bach Competition in Switzerland. In the same year, he performed at the Royal Festival Hall in London, performing the world premiere of the solo organ work Salve Sancta Facies by English composer David Gorton dedicated to him. He has participated in many prestigious festivals in the UK, including The Spanish Baroque Music Festival, London Handel Festival, London Bach Festival, Dartington International Summer School, The Spitalfields Festival, London Organ Forum, International Organ Festival at St Albans, as well as concerts in the Czech Republic, France, Greece, the Netherlands, Ireland, Germany, Poland, Switzerland, Sweden and Hungary. He is the artistic director of the Organ and Chamber Music Festival Ars Musica in Iwonicz. He has recorded albums for Ars Sonora, Chopin University Press and Musicon.
In the academic year 2003/2004 he taught at the Royal Academy of Music in London as part of the Pidem Organ Fellowship. Bartosz Jakubczak is regularly invited to present lectures during nationwide scientific sessions organized by, among others, the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music or the Academies of Music in Krakow, Gdańsk, Wrocław, Poznań and Katowice. He also conducted workshops for teachers and students of organ classes of second-cycle music schools in Gdańsk, Olsztyn, Rzeszów, Wrocław and Suwałki. In 2018 he taught the Master Organ Course at the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań.
From 2004 to the present he works in the Department of Organs of the UMFC. He obtained his doctorate in musical art in the artistic discipline of instrumentalist in 2009, based on the dissertation Gregorian Choral in Selected Organ Works by Charles Tournemire. In 2015, by decision of the Senate of the Royal Academy of Music in London, Bartosz Jakubczak was awarded the title of Associate of the Royal Academy of Music (ARAM). Membership of the Academy is granted only to those graduates of the university who have distinguished themselves in their profession and have made a significant contribution to the field in which they are engaged. In the same year he received the degree of Habilitation Doctor. In cooperation with Chopin University Press, he served as scientific editor, preparing the sheet music publication Psalmodia for organ, cauldron and vibraphone by Marek Jasiński and Diptichos for trumpet and organ by Aldona Nawrocka. In 2023 he was awarded the “Medal for Merit for the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music”. Twice he received the UMFC Rector's Award for artistic, didactic and organizational activities. In the term of office 2024-2028, he is the Head of the UMFC Organs Department.
