Damien Simon was trained in organ playing under André Stricker at the Regional Conservatory in Strasbourg, and then with Jean Boyer at the National Conservatory of Music in Lyon where he obtained with distinction the Diplôme National d'Etudes Supérieure Musicales, winning first prize. He is a laureate of several international competitions. In 1991 he was awarded the prize of the International Academy of Music in Comminges. In 1995 he was a laureate of the Swiss International Organ Competition, and in 1997 he was unanimously awarded first prize at the International Organ Competition in Lorraine and second prize at the International Early Music Competition in Bruges. He also completed his studies in musicology at the University of the Humanities in Strasbourg.
