Mumio

They are a phenomenon that cannot be closed in the definition of cabaret. They combine theatre, music and literary absurdity to create a world full of tenderness towards human frailties and everyday misunderstandings. On the occasion of its 25th anniversary, Mumio invites you to a unique review of his best skits!

Actors Jadwiga and Dariusz Basińscy and Jacek Borusiński, after experience with the dramatic repertoire (from Euripides, Shakespeare, to Jarry, Buchner, Nabokov or Ghelderode) created an author's project. Then, still as the Epty Theater, they staged a play entitled “Cabaret Mumio” in 1998. Soon after their debut, the group was called one of the greatest discoveries of the Polish scene. ... and that was 25 years ago. During these 25 years, “Cabaret Mumio” has been played hundreds of times, with “Soldering iron, but not pistol, only such a flask”, “Welcome Home Boys”, “Taki mix”, “Somebody knocked on my shoe” and “Przybora na 102”. The actors participated in many film, theater and advertising projects. Darek Basiński created RadioVision Mumia, and Jacek Borusiński discovered in himself a rare gift of reading situations immortalized in photographs, i.e. “Fotosłysze”.

25 years later, the actors of the Mumio group — Darek, Jacek and Jadzia — will present a jubilee program on the stage of the Municipal Cultural Center, in which they will recall 25 of the most iconic pieces from 25 years of their stage work and once again prove that their unconventional imagination still surprises, entertains and delights. Because Mumio is stage madness — staging, literary and musical! At the same time, they are extremely consistent in pursuing their original vision of humor. They love any human stumbling and awkwardness. However, they do not make fun of them, but approach them with tender interest and present in performances with the help of an excellent acting workshop.

The jubilee show will not only be a sentimental journey through 25 years of Mumio's work, but also an opportunity to discover completely new sketches and ideas. In addition to the iconic numbers that have been permanently inscribed in the history of Polish cabaret, viewers will be waiting for the premiere episodes of humor characteristic of artists, thanks to which even the most loyal fans will discover Mumio anew.
