MUNA's musical journey has always been about creating a space for the complex, messy and ecstatic realities of life. The band has never lost sight of this approach with their sound between indie, synth and electro pop and brought it to the sharpest, darkest and most exhilarating form to date on the fourth album “Dancing On The Wall”. This has led MUNA on tour worldwide since 2016, where they were able to inspire the audience with their partly playful sound in the opening act for Harry Styles, The 1975, Phoebe Bridgers, Lorde and Taylor Swift. With a brand new album in their luggage, the trio is coming to Germany for two headline shows on the Gets So Hot Tour in November.

About the event

MUNA was founded in Los Angeles in 2013 after Katie Gavin, Josette Maskin and Naomi McPherson met at the University of Southern California. Initial sound experiments resulted in an electropop sound, which the band presented for the first time on their debut EP “More Perfect” (2014) and was then signed by RCA Records and Columbia Records. The second EP “Loudspeaker” (2016) was followed by the debut album “About You” (2017), which entered the top 10 on the Billboard 200. A US tour supporting Grouplove, a performance on Lollapalooza and an appearance on Jimmy Fallon's The Tonight Show made MUNA's national breakthrough perfect. The use of her song “I Know A Place” in “The Carmilla Movie” as well as in the Netflix film “Alex Strangelove” and a North American and European tour with Harry Styles led to growing international fame. In 2019, her second album “Saves The World” followed, which entered number 7 on the US Heatseekers Charts with the fan favorite “Number One Fan”. After MUNA split from their major label in 2020 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, they signed with Phoebe Bridger's Saddest Factory Records label in 2021. There they released their third LP “MUNA” in 2022, on which the band dived deep into loose synth-pop sounds with songs such as “Silk Chiffon” and “Anything But Me.” In her fourth work, MUNA is now channeling the anxious and uncertain energy of life in Los Angeles, characterized by political tension, environmental degradation and the quiet but precarious uncertainties of the millennial generation. The result is an album that is as intimate as it is spectacular: a gruelling pop world full of spirit, emotional response and approachable storytelling that not only captures fleeting moments, but completely captures them. “Dancing On The Wall” provides a soundtrack for burning hearts that are also sparked by the chaos around them, while MUNA prove that their bold vision of modern indie pop can exist both introspectively and with social awareness.
