A series of art workshops for Wrocław seniors

“Museum enthusiasts” is a carefully designed initiative that combines creative development with social inclusion. During regular meetings, participants not only gain space for artistic expression, but also build bonds and exchange experiences in an inspiring, creative environment. The project responds to the needs of cultural activation of seniors, emphasizing the role of art as a tool supporting personal and social development.

During the five-day bookbinding course in the space of the Museum of Mr. Tadeusz, the participants will learn the secrets of traditional craft, and the result will be a handmade notebook. During the training, the group will also visit the bookbinding workshop of the Ossolinski National Institute. The inspiration will be both the historical methods of making book frames and the aesthetics of the 19th century bookbinding, taking into account the rich ornaments, ornaments and the use of materials typical of that era.

Five-day outdoor photography in the space of the Museum of Mr. Tadeusz, for which the inspiration will be elements related to the heritage of the 19th century, and especially to the culture, art and history of that period. Participants will be able to transfer the spirit of the era into their works, drawing on characteristic motifs such as romanticism in art, 19th century fashion, historical events, literature and architecture of that period. The open air will become an opportunity to creatively interpret the 19th century heritage in a modern medium.

Leading:

Aleksandra Pawłowska — educator, photographer, graduate of Graphic Arts at SWPS University and Art Mediation at the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław, student at Institut Tvůrčí Fotografie in Opava. She has completed numerous photography and graphic courses. The main medium with which he works is a photographic book. To his credit, he has more than four hundred conducted activities for children and adults.

Five-day outdoor painting in the space of the Ossolineum main building and the Baroque Garden. Participants will have the opportunity to create in an atmosphere reminiscent of the era, the spirit of which is captured by both the historic architecture and the carefully designed garden space.

Wera Śliwowska — visual artist, curator, designer. A graduate of the E. Geppert Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław (2016) and the A. L. Stieglitz Academy of Art and Industry in St. Petersburg (2015). Scholarship holder of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland (2019) and the MicroGranty program: Wrocław — European Capital of Culture (2012). Resident of the Studio of the City Gallery (2025). Nominated for the Wrocław Artistic Award as a member of the Hutmen Studio collective (2025).

The meeting will introduce participants to the aesthetics of the 19th century and the role of stained glass in interior decoration and architecture of that period. The workshop part consists of practical classes in creating your own stained glass, inspired by historical motifs and techniques. Participants will learn the basics of pattern design, selection of colored glass and techniques of combining stained glass elements, using modern tools referring to traditional crafts. As a result, unique decorations will be created.

Conducting:

Karolina Petela — creation accompanies her throughout her life. He is happy to combine different techniques, and in his works he often refers to the abstract of the world around us. He expresses his own thoughts and emotions through art, seeking interaction with the recipient. She enjoys working in the technique of cold bending glass, classical and Tiffany stained glass, as well as intuitive design of utilitarian forms realized in metallurgy, as well as carpentry and metalwork (she has a diploma in the field of Artistic Furniture at OSSP in Tarnów). She is a co-founder of the gallery “Gnuj” and also works in the space of needlework as part of the Pętelka project. She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław (in the field of Glass Art and Design), obtaining a master's degree in the following laboratories: Laboratory of Stained Glass and Graphic Activities in Glass, Ph.D. Ryszard Więckowski, PhD, and Intuitive Design Studio, PhD, Jagoda Nowak-Bieganowska.
