The exhibition “Black Roads Enter the White Land” is an attempt to examine Polish relations with Blackness and Sub-Saharan Africa during the period of membership of the Eastern Bloc in 1945-1989. The exhibition restores the memory of the stories that were marginalized after the transformation, and presents their influence on the art and visual culture of that era.
During the tour, we will trace together how the processes of decolonization, propaganda and the arrival of African students shaped the ideas about Africa at that time. The curator of the exhibition, Oliwia Bosomtwe, will help us to look at Polish stereotypes about Blackness and to confront them with historical facts.
This meeting will provide teachers with a ready context to teach important lessons about history, racism and intercultural relations with young people.
