We invite you to the first Music Monday of the new season. We propose to spend the autumn evening with the notes of Wojciech Kilar, Enio Morricone, Nino Rota or John Williams, which evoke the memory of the most beautiful, almost legendary film paintings. “Nights and Days”, “The Godfather”, “Schindler's List”, “Leprosy”: these titles open in our memory a soundtrack of the highest class.

About the event

We invite you to the first Music Monday of the new season. We propose to spend the autumn evening with the notes of Wojciech Kilar, Enio Morricone, Nino Rota or John Williams, which evoke the memory of the most beautiful, almost legendary film paintings. “Nights and Days”, “The Godfather”, “Schindler's List”, “Leprosy”: these titles open in our memory a soundtrack of the highest class.

Film music is an area where immortal masterpieces of composition are created, comparable to masterpieces of classical music. Unlike the picture they illustrate, they exist on their own and incomparably increase the value of the director's vision. They win with her. The film will not exist without music. Outstanding music — itself is the carrier of our memory of the film. This is the case with the paintings of Andrzej Wajda, Sergio Leone, Steven Spielberg, whose hit music we will hear during the concert performed by two young musicians: Religa & Markowicz Duo.

They are young, creative and versatile artists who combine guitar and accordion sounds in a unique way. They perform classical, contemporary music, as well as tango nuevo. The duo was formed at the end of 2022 while studying at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice. After only a few months of cooperation, they achieved their first success, winning 1st place in the category of chamber ensembles at the XX Gorlice Accordion Confrontations in 2023. The musicians perfected their skills during master classes conducted by outstanding artists such as: Marcin Dylla, Hubert Kaeppel, Veli Kujala, Na Song, Daniel Lis, Grzegorz Stopa, Judicael Perroy, Jeremy Jouve, Marcin Wyrostek, Yurij Szyszkin, Maciej Frąckiewicz, Carlo Marchione, Zoran Dukić, Thomas Offerman, Simone Iannarelli, Tomasz Zawierucha, Krzysztof Pelech, Petr Saidl, Michał Nagy, Dariusz Kupinski, Carlos Piñana, Franko Božac, Joseph Petric, Jose Valente, Raimondas Sviackevičius, Giorgio Dellarole. Both musicians have performed both in Poland and abroad, including in Sweden, Hungary, Italy, the Czech Republic, Germany, Austria and Lithuania, and are winners of many international competitions, both in the solo and chamber categories.

Przemysław Religa is a graduate of the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice in the guitar class of Prof. Dr. Marek Nosal. During his studies he also learned to play historical instruments under the guidance of Dr. Jan Čižmář. He studied at the University of Szeged under the direction of Prof. David Pavlovits, as part of the Erasmus+ program. From 2011 to 2015 he was a participant of the ZDOLNI Fund, and from 2016 he joined the group of scholarship holders of the ZDOLNI Program. He received a scholarship from the Center for Artistic Education in 2011-2012. In the years 2015-2019 he was awarded a scholarship of the Marshal of the Lublin Voivodeship and a scholarship of the Mayor of the City of Lublin for special artistic achievements. He received a scholarship from the Minister of Culture and National Heritage (2016, 2018, 2022) and a scholarship from the “Young Poland” Program (2022). He is a laureate of more than 50 national and international competitions, and has made several world premieres.

Damian Markowicz is a graduate of the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice (in the accordion class of Dr. Daniel Lisa). He studied at the University of Music and Art in Vienna (in the accordion class of Prof. Grzegorz Stopa) as part of the Erasmus+ program. He has participated in numerous festivals and concerts in Poland and abroad, including in Italy, Austria and Slovakia. He participated in the project “Poéme Électronique” under the direction of Martin Siewert, combining live electronics, multimedia and improvisation. He is the winner of many awards at national and international accordion competitions. His musical inspirations range from original accordion literature to early music transcriptions. He is particularly interested in contemporary music, including works by Polish composers. He is constantly looking for lesser-known works of European literature, trying to include them in his repertoire.

We invite you on Monday, October 26, 2026, at 18.30 to the Palace “Sokol”.

Tickets for PLN 30 are on sale from 23 September at the ticket office of the Camena Pool.
